II. Working Principle

The breather valve is designed for use on liquid storage tanks. When the tank is being filled or emptied, the valve disc responds to the preset pressure levels to provide pressure or vacuum relief, preventing the tank from rupturing or imploding. This also reduces evaporation and loss of the tank’s contents.

Description

When the pressure inside the tank balances with atmospheric pressure, both the positive and negative pressure valve discs seal tightly with the valve seat.

  • Positive Pressure Relief: If the tank pressure exceeds atmospheric pressure (positive pressure), the high pressure inside the tank acts on the lower side of the valve disc, overcoming the external atmospheric pressure and valve disc weight, allowing the excess pressure to be released.
  • Negative Pressure Relief: If the tank pressure drops below atmospheric pressure (negative pressure), atmospheric pressure enters through the intake channel, acting on the lower side of the intake valve disc, overcoming the internal tank pressure and valve disc weight, allowing air to enter the tank to balance the pressure.

III. Transport and Storage

Improper handling and storage of the breather valve from the factory to installation can adversely affect its performance, even rendering it unusable.

  • Packaging: The valve outlet is protected with a plastic cover and the entire valve is wrapped in plastic film, then secured in a wooden crate. Avoid severe vibrations during transport.
  • Inspection: Check new stock for dislodged covers or the presence of moisture and debris. Clean and reseal using wax paper or plastic sheets.
  • Storage: Store in a ventilated, dry place. Do not invert the valve during transport, storage, or installation.

IV. Installation

  • Location: Install the valve at the highest point of the storage tank’s gas space.
  • Multiple Valves: If two valves are needed, install them equidistant from the tank center.
  • Nitrogen-Sealed Tanks: If installing on nitrogen-sealed tanks, position the nitrogen inlet away from the valve exhaust and insert it 200mm into the tank to prevent direct release.
  • Vibration-Free Environment: Install in areas free from vibrations to prevent premature opening or sealing failures.
  • Handling: Handle with care to avoid damage to the sealing surface.
  • Verification: Ensure the nameplate details match the technical requirements before installation.
  • Vertical Installation: Install the valve vertically, ensuring the connecting pipes and media are clean to maintain sealing performance.
  • Pipe Diameter: The installation pipe diameter should be no less than the valve inlet diameter to reduce resistance.

V. Maintenance and Care

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check for leaks and ensure the valve disc and seat are clean and free of contaminants. Confirm that the guide rod moves smoothly.
  • Manual Testing: Regularly perform manual discharge tests to prevent the valve disc from sticking to the seat.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain a usage log for each valve, including the supplier’s certification and records of repairs, inspections, and adjustments.
  • Outdoor Valves: Protect outdoor valves from rain, fog, dust, and dirt. Implement anti-freeze measures in sub-zero conditions to ensure reliable operation.
  • Pressure Settings: The valves are pre-set to the required opening pressure. For recalibration, send the valve to an authorized inspection station. Recalibrated valves must be sealed and certified.

VI. Our Service Commitment

  • Warranty: The product is warranted for 12 months from the start of use or 14 months from the date of shipment, whichever comes first.
  • Regular Maintenance Reminders: We will periodically remind the user’s maintenance department to inspect and maintain the valves.
  • Faults During Warranty: If faults occur within the warranty period, we will replace the faulty components free of charge. The user must cover the travel and accommodation costs for our service personnel. Outside the warranty period, the user pays only for the replacement parts and associated travel costs.
  • Fault Reporting: If a fault occurs during use, we will respond within 24 hours through remote diagnostics or on-site inspection to resolve the issue.
  • After-Sales Service Contact: For after-sales service, contact us at 0086-19921250077.
